There is always something happening at Alamance Presbyterian Church! We are currently offering these small groups and classes where our members and other people from the community can join to connect, learn, and grow.

Culinary Arts Ministry

The Culinary Arts Ministry began life at Alamance as “Dining with Dudes,” a ministry of our Men’s Group to provide meals for church events and community mission outreach. Rebranded as our Culinary Arts Ministry, this group still provides many of our church meals, they serve regularly at the Potter’s House of Greensboro Urban Ministry and Habitat for Humanity’s workdays. They have provided disaster assistance meals locally and in Eastern North Carolina following hurricanes. APC’s Culinary Arts prides itself on serving more than just a “cold sandwich and cookie,” particularly to those who could use a home-cooked meal the most. Darren Hadley is the contact person.

“Divine Focus” Photography Club

Divine Focus is a group of shutterbugs who come together to share their passion for photography. They meet to learn about photography, share their photos, and provide photography for church events. They meet in person at scheduled meetings monthly, and they share through the Divine Focus Facebook Group. Whether you’re using a DSLR, a point and shoot, or a cell phone camera, all are welcome to join! Kyle Goodman and Danny Thomas are the contacts.

Knit, Pray, Love

Knit, Love, Love is a form of congregational care and outreach ministry of Alamance Presbyterian Church. This group of faithful knitters crafts prayer shawls and chemo caps for people around the world who have a particular need for comfort and prayer. Their shawls and caps have been shared at the Cancer Center of Greensboro, Hospice of Greensboro and Burlington, and at the Pediatric ICU at Chapel Hill. Since 2019, this group has donated over 1,000 cradle caps to the Women and Children’s Center at Moses Cone Hospital. This group meets monthly on scheduled Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Parlor.

If you would like for our Knit, Pray, Love group to send someone a prayer shawl or cap, contact Linda Aydelette at linda.aydelette@gmail.com

Open Word Bible Study

Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Come walk through the Bible with a group of inquisitive and insightful Christians each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Led by Pastor Kyle, this group reads and discusses one chapter from a book of the Bible each week during their first hour, then they spend time praying for the concerns of the church and community together. For the second hour, some of the group stays for a bag lunch around the dining room table in the Coble House.

Pastor Jess’s Book Club

Pastor Jess’s Book Club meets every fourth Tuesday at 7 pm to discuss books of various genres and foci selected by our Discipleship Pastor.  Past books have included Tattoos on the Heart by Father Gregory Boyle, Being Mortal by Atul Gawande, Getting Involved with God by Ellen Davis, Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, and more.  This is a great opportunity to experience unique texts--both sacred and secular to discuss your insights and opinions with a curious and open-minded community of believers.

Seniors and Friends

Seniors and Friends is for anyone young at heart.  We gather at least every other month for times of fellowship and a shared meal, and quarterly for special outings, such as concerts, visits to local restaurants, theater trips, and more.  This is a space for building relationships, growing in faith, and having fun!

Sherlie Andrew Class

Sundays, 9:00-9:50 a.m.

Our Sherlie Andrews Class gathers on Sunday mornings for Bible Study presented on the Presbyterian Church’s Present Word curriculum. This group loves to sing the old favorites, pray for the church, and give generously to support its mission. They have sponsored our Meals on Wheels ministry through Senior Resources of Guilford.

Stephen Ministry

Alamance Presbyterian Church is a Stephen Ministry Congregation. Our trained Stephen Ministers are paired with members who are experiencing difficult periods in their lives to share Christ’s love and compassion and to provide a non-judgmental, listening ear. This group meets twice a month on Wednesdays for continuing education and mutual support. Becky Brinkley, Lee Shores, and Melinda White are our Stephen Ministry Leaders.

If you know of someone who might benefit from a relationship with a Stephen Minister, contact Pastor Kyle or Pastor Jess.

Women’s Circles

Our Presbyterian Women’s Organization has four active circles including L.I.F.T. that meet monthly for community, study, and spiritual growth. They are a part of the denomination’s Presbyterian Women’s Organization.
