Alamance Presbyterian has several opportunities for you to participate in worship through music!
Adult Choir rehearses each Wednesday from 7-8:15 p.m. The choir sings traditional anthems, spirituals, and contemporary Christian music; in a diversity of musical styles that speaks to the congregation and enhances the message. They sing for each Sunday morning service and at each special church event. Solo and small ensemble opportunities are available -- and encouraged.
Alamance Handbell Ringers meet the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 4-5:30 to prepare music for worship. This group of experienced Ringers include a 4-octave handbell choir, solo and small ensemble opportunities.
Resident Artist Internship Program-
As a young music major at Appalachian State University, I was approached by my voice professor, also the choir director at First Presbyterian Church of Boone, about a soprano section leader position at the church. I thought I’d check it out, since I grew up singing in all the church choirs at home, not expecting much more than a little singing experience. Fast forward six years later, and I am the interim choir director of that very same choir. I not only gained a wonderful singing experience, but a greater knowledge of sacred anthems, connections with Joel and Ann Long, and, most importantly, a supportive and loving church family. This is directly what brought me here to you today.
Throughout my interim period with you at Alamance, I began working on this program, along with several members of staff, session, and administration. Our goal for this Resident Artist Internship program is to provide a loving, supportive, creative church environment for these music students to explore and grow in their faith through music. With their love and knowledge of music, these Resident Artists provide support for the choir. Our goal is to show the love of Christ as we reach out to college students through this ministry.
